Springville exhibit highlights the work of Utah illustrators

Here I am at the show.  My work was right by the legendary Brett Helquist of Lemony Snicket fame. He’s one of my heroes so it was especially cool.

Do you see the red dot on my hand? That’s where  a wasp stung me earlier that week.  I sure am glad they didn’t have to amputate my drawing hand. Phew! Close one.  Not that you normally have to amputate appendages because of bee stings… but yeah.

Here is a Deseret News article.  There was a small bit about me, which was very nice.

Deseret News Article:

“Matthew Armstrong is a relatively new illustrator, but he has hooked up with the C.S. Lewis estate and has done illustrations for a “Chronicles of Narnia” series, including a pop-up book with Robert Sabuda. Armstrong is from Salt Lake City and has studied at the Visual Art Institute in Sugar House. He also draws and paints for video games and comic books.”

Unbound: Original Picture Book Art by Utah Illustrators continues at the Springville Museum of Art through December 28. For more information on this and other exhibits at the museum, visit www.smofa.org. For specific events related to Unbound, check out the exhibit’s blog.

I’d like to publicly thank the legendary Margy Layton for including my work in her show.  It was a pleasure. I met allot of wonderful local artists. It feel great being part of such a talented comunity.

The new Matthew Art dot com is currently under construction.  The old Matthew Art dot com suffered death due to a horrible server accident.

The good news is the new Matthew Art will be allot better.

I’ll be updating ASAP.

Thank you for your patience.
